What
are Multi-Rater Assessments?
A multi-rater assessment (also known as 360 feedback, multi-source
feedback, multi-rater feedback, full-circle appraisal, and
upward feedback, - just to name a few) is the process
in which you, your manager, your peers, direct reports and
others who you interact with evaluate you on a set of performance
criteria. Similar to organizational assessments, multi-rater
assessments
allow
you to measure current performance levels and establish a baseline
for performance within the company. However, multi-rater
assessments also allow you to evaluate individual competencies
and behaviors. Re-assessing on a routine basis allows
the company to monitor improvements and provide additional development
training in areas where gaps in performance are determined.
How does it work?
Feedback from all participants
is gathered and sent back to Success Profiles
for analysis, and the resulting report is sent to the "consultant/coach,"
who meets confidentially with individual employees to discuss
the findings. Feedback centers around the gaps found
between the employee's self-perception and those of the piers,
subordinates and superiors. Together with the consultant/coach,
the employee develops an action plan for improvement and shares
the plan with his/her boss. The process can be administered
as part of either a performance review system, complete with
implications for bonuses, rewards, and/or demerits or as a
component of career development.
Multi-rater
assessments provides valuable information to both the individual
employee and the organization. Employees receive valuable
feedback on areas needing developed and a system to better
manage their own performance and careers. The organization
is provided with the information to improve recruiting, training,
promotion and career planning processes. Contact
